Sneaky

Oh, Sage. Where to begin? She's starting to develop quite the devious little personality. Here is an email that I received from daycare today:

So...she was putting her cauliflower on the floor. I asked her not to. She picks one up, looking right into my eyes, and drops it on the floor. I said, "Sage, you need to eat your cauliflower. Please don't put it on the floor." She picks one up, and eats it. I say 'good job!!', and continue to putter in the kitchen while they finish up eating.

Well, I was just now detailing the high-chairs and such. She was a busy girl! She stuffed it in the corner of her bib!!!!
*sigh*
What a funny, smart little girl.

Then, when we got home, I gave her some string cheese. She ate about 3/4 of it and then threw the other bit on the floor. She immediately picked it up after I asked her to do so. However, instead of handing it to me, she toddled over to the stove, pulled the hand towel off the handle and promptly hid her cheese in it. She then wadded up the towel and shoved it into the corner of the cupboard by the sink...?!?

This is one of her favorite hangouts lately. She can't quite get the door closed, but she comes pretty close. I've found leftover bagels, toys, cups, and Tupperware in there. One night she "parked" her toy truck next to the toaster over and closed the door. When she got home from daycare the next day, it was the first place she went. Out came the truck and away she went!

I couldn't resist posting this picture as well. :)

Hero

My students and I have recently embarked on a four week journey of discovering "Heroes Across Time" in our literacy curriculum. Today we were discussing heroes such as Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, etc. and all of the qualities that are tied to such a prominent label. One of my students raised his hand and announced to the class that he thinks I am a hero. When prompted why (I needed a little lift) he said it's because I have the patience to deal with 28 students every day... smart boy!

Totally unrelated, but some food for thought:

I am obsessed with Wheel of Fortune. I'm not going to lie--I'm pretty good. Tonight I solved a puzzle without a single letter!! Ross was my witness. The category was movie title. The puzzle was first word:(3 letters) then (9 letters) then (4 letters). If you watched the episode on Tuesday, February 1st, then you may not play--and don't even think about ruining it for others. If you didn't watch, give me your best shot!
