Best Big Sister Ever

Sage really is the best big sister that we could ask for. Nights are short now that I'm back at work. They usually consist of wrestling, swinging, tickling, laughing, eating, reading, and bathing before it's off to bed and time to start all over again.

Rarrr is Dinosaur for "I Love You"

We met Sage's best buddy from daycare at the zoo today and when she saw him, she ran up to him and gave him a hug. Then I turned away for a second, turned back around, and they were holding hands. They are so cute together!! Watch out, Lisa. You're going to have your hands full again!!

Sage grew a bit concerned when Claire joined the crew...it was like old times again.

It's almost August already?

Oh, how the summer flies by. Sage is less into craft projects these days and more into cuddling and reading books. She won't go outside if the sun is shining into the living room through the sliding glass door because she declares it is too hot. When the sun regresses a bit, then she thinks it is cool enough to go outside. We have really enjoyed having a shady yard in the afternoons so the kids can swing and Sage can run through the sprinkler.  Yesterday's "project" happened because Sage picked out some paints from the dollar bin at a fabric store and I wasn't sure what to do with them. So, when we were outside playing I asked her to pick the prettiest rock to take inside to paint. She was thrilled--not many more years that I'm going to get off that easy!  Perhaps a paper weight for Daddy's desk? Ha! She has now made two of them... hmm... I guess that means one for my desk as well. :)

Bubba's hair is starting to curl with all of this humidity--still red!
It goes nicely with his alabaster skin, don't you think, Lucas? :)

Sage will be three before we know it--wow, that seems old!

Drip, Drip, Drop

I was shaken awake by Ross this morning.
Ross: Amber, Amber, there's a leak coming through the kitchen ceiling.
Me: Roll back over to go to sleep. After all, Drew had just nursed himself back to sleep and I had an hour until Sage usually gets out of bed. I wasn't going to budge for anything.
Ross: I guess I can stay around until Sage gets out of bed? (Thinking that we would have to access the panel to the upstairs shower from the book nook I just created in her closet...which we did.)
Me: No. I'll get up.

Long story short, this is the sequence of events that occurred at our house before noon today:

(A professional plumber actually fixed the hole...)
Apparently it had been leaking for awhile. :/

At least we will finally get recessed lighting done in the kitchen!

Our Sweet Little Boy

Drew is sure growing up fast!!

Staycation

We spent a week in Cedar Rapids over the 4th of July and relaxed pool-side most of the time we were there. It was a perfect place to be in the extreme heat. I think we are still recuperating from staying up to play games with the adults until 2am most nights! It was great to have time to catch up with family and enjoy wonderful food!
